contract between mythics and the public utilities commission the floor is yours.
>> ken it director for the
project facilities commission
this is a contract to with
mythics to buy oracle products
with the sfpuc uses toeshg their
database and other products to
manage this testing system and
various things we depended on
oracle products for a large part
of the business the public works
has two contracts they can't be
amended we need to expand our
business a couple of ways more
electronic retail encumbrance to
the hetch hetchy we need to
accommodate that new function on
our current wastewater billing
system oracle conspiring and
we're using oracle products for
to manage our capital program the sewer sewer system
improvements this $.9 billion
program over judge's and May
need oracle products to brings
this in house 981 thousand
customers that is growing and
the handling of the service
interested in bringing that in
so we put out a request for a
proposal and in June and got our
criteria that those proposals
have to be oracle platinum and
we received two proposals one
from the mission the lowest mid
bidding and one from solutions
and choose to go forward in the
amount not to exceed $8 million
blues from 2017 to March 2
thousand 2 we're not committed to spend the money the contract
is a way to buy local products
at a very good price 5 percent less than what we're paying to
oracle if we need them we need
to keep on renewing the existing
products another thing to
mention as you May know the strong migration to the cloud
allows us to move forward with
that if we choose in the next
couple of years the funding will
come from budgets and projects
the funding for year one we'll
be funding and perfumes that we
need so the request to authors
the sfpuc gm to enter into a 5
year contract for the database
and or cloud absolve licenses in the amount not to exceed and the
duration is 5 years and some
months and days that concludes my presentation. >> thank you. I appreciate our presentation he lets take a

It passes thank you very much
item 5 please
the strategies to assess this
non-county connectively
development for the access to
related grants for the state,
federal, and local to have a private collaboration in the
economic workforce that no
single organization or past organization can fall below.
>> supervisor yee is one of
the sponsors and the mayor I want to give supervisor yee a chance to talk about this item. >> thank you chair cohen.
>> I want to say a learning
experience ceron the area government on behalf of the
board of supervisors as we all
know many of the facility issues
are to the county line need to
focus to tackle housing and
workforce needs the resolution
before us today would unify the vision vision, goals and
objectives for our regional
workforce plan developed by our
economic and workforce with the counterparts and neighboring
jurisdictions we're being tasked
inform having a creative
economic stream to have a
regional district that will help
us and our neighboring 9 cubits
to have resources to better
address our economic workforce
and equity issues
I want to thank the staff of
abag cynthia crow and johnny for working on this straefb fraction
one of the aspects that I'm
proud of the included the
importance of investing in education
not only at the k college level
but in early care and education
economic equity starts from the
room and the sooner our local
government infuses that philosophy the more impact in shaping the industry of our workforce and, of course, we
need to be thinking proactively
about supporting the workforce
that allows families to be
financially vicinity independent
our teacher as other through the
chair like to notify the
director of business development
to provide some interjection
before we bring up the staff.
>> thank you, supervisor.
>> from the office of economic workforce development a
culmination of a year and a half work to develop a comprehensive
strategy for the regional led by
the partners
oewd has been involved in
insuring that is commit try of san francisco's strategy as
city's represented abag and is
supervisor yee omitted has run the relevant at the scene of the
accident acceptance and all possibilities ferry building was
in the final document by the
association of fair give the each of the vision, goals and
objectives of the fountainsal documents that the principle planner is here to talk about
that process and the vision, goals and objectives that you're
being asked to exposure today
thank you and supervisor yee
and for doing a fantastic job in
introducing this item I think I can do this less than than 5
minutes I was be originally told
to do I May a minute so
Laughter:
What are we are talking about
today let's go through that first of all-you know what
and to preserve why you covered
but clearly one part of the
region effects both rich and
resources community it has
challenges that no equity is a
solve but requires more public
and private an e d d is an economic collaboration as well as improved assess throughout
the region for grants and that
supports this and requires the
enforcement by the county board of supervisors involved the comprehensive economic
strategists is a framework for the overall plan
and I will simply is that it is
has an implementation plan many
consultant you can see online
and guided by a broad-based
strategy that represents the economic development and unions and entity first a bit more
about the strategy but it is you
know involves a number of folks
from this actually I'll refer to
my notes you think a different
group with nonprofit and members
of the business community elected officials but beyond the
strategies committee we reached
out to a wide variety of
commerce throughout the region
in all 9 counties that
strengthens this effort includes
to preserve office of economic workforce development and the
bay area council and super and
meta and scombrooush vocalal
services and the sfmta
now the economic profile I'll
not say much one section of recorded that provides the
information that is necessary to
to the actual vision, goals and
objectives and strategic action
plans we're a little ways from
so, now we're getting to the
meat and potato we're asking you
to support today, the broad base
engagement was briefly described led to a vision to recognize the
strength and provide opportunity
for those and retainting the
region I hope you had a chance
to review the 4 goals but a
quick refresh this is what we've
repeatedly across the region and
over all tops the vision to help
the four overarching goals
around housing and infrastructure etc.
Now ultimately I'm not not there
yet but developing an economic
action plan we're seeking input for actions that will advance
the goals but those are the
areas where consensus is needed
and input going forward been especially valuable
I won't say much about that this
is a summer slide is recaps the
benefits of this inspire process
and I'm very happy to report
that is not changing and
provides a framework that
supports and xofz of outcomes and the states for individual jurisdictions and originals or
organizations is to advance
their own efforts or rather
learning awhile enjoying the support is from this regional organization going forward our
schedule to present to county board of supervisors through
November requesting their
support and endorsement and by the end of the year or ri6 we'll
submit the application to the
district so thank you it to you
and to laurel and the team
listed here feel free to send us questions and further
information refer to the website listed there
>> so I have a simple question
in the in regards for the
public's knowledge once this
passes and there is put us in a position for resources what kind
of research are we are talking about.
>> I'm sorry what kind of resources.
>> yeah. Can we apply for or.
>> more competitive for grants
public era private and state, federal, and local or regional
we're working on a number of
items through the regional
agencies now we're one agency in
effect we're still not quite
there-that can leverage the
effort as well.
>> but in terms of quantitative from the federal
level what are we are talking about.
>> is there actually a source
of pounding that can't support this.
>> oh, yeah their dedicated
various grant programs and in
terms of the U.S. Dea their
budget has not it is increased
but not just about the b r pta
other large agencies we work
closely the epa, fuming and the department of emergency management believe it or not
have grants and technical
assistance in many areas related
dribble to the office of economic workforce development and understanding of the
different piece of region and
where the most distressed areas
and month needs to mix those
types of grants it increases our competitiveness tremendously. >> thank you, thank you you're welcome. >> thank you very much I'd like to see in the budget
analyst has any remarks to share
we will go to public comment on this item any public comment?
That would like to speak please
come up to the podium seeing none, public comment is closed.
>> supervisor yee you want me to make the motion.
>> sure first of all, I really
want to commend you know, I join
abag when we were going through
the tail end of this exercise
and getting approval for it I
know that is staff where
introduce laurel or other and abag staff worked tyler to get
this document together and even
at the board level although I
was allows knowledgeable about
that document there was a lot of discussion back and forth of looking at creating the best
document out of this so-what
I like to do is go ahead and
pass this out of committee with a a positive recommendation to
the full board as a committee
report for September 26th and we'll take that without objection.
>> congratulations one step
closer Madam Clerk, is there any additional business to come before this body? >> no man and woman area ladies
